Our Mission

is an international initiative to train 1,000 therapists in psychosexual therapy over the next year. This is your opportunity to receive 150 hours of sex therapy education, fulfilling the educational requirements for IAPST certification* and help close the global gap in access to qualified sexual health professionals.

Why This Matters?

Sexual wellness is a vital part of mental health—but access to qualified, culturally competent sex therapists remains scarce. The Thousand Therapist Project, launched by the International Association of Psychosexual Therapists (IAPST) in partnership with the School of Sex Therapy, aims to change that with a systematic, evidence-based training program.

  • Who is this program for?
This training is for mental health professionals, medical providers, educators, clergy, coaches, and graduate students who want to gain core competencies in sex therapy.
  • What does the $2,500 cover?
Your tuition includes 150 hours of foundational sex therapy education, live monthly workshops, access to recorded sessions, downloadable materials, and eligibility toward IAPST certification. Payment plans are available.
  • Is the program live or self-paced?
The program is delivered through monthly live workshops, which are also recorded. If you enroll later in the year, you’ll gain immediate access to past recordings and can attend future live sessions. You can complete the training on your schedule over 6 to 18 months.
  • How does rolling admission work?
You can enroll at any time. If you join after the program has started, you’ll be asked to watch the recorded workshops you missed and then join future sessions live. All learners get full access to past and upcoming content.
  • What language is the program taught in?
All instruction is in English. A strong working knowledge of English is required to participate fully.
  • Does this make me a certified sex therapist?
Not immediately. This training fulfills the educational requirement for IAPST certification. To become fully certified, you’ll also need supervised clinical hours and pass a certification interview.
  • Is the training online?
Yes. All components are offered fully online, making the program accessible worldwide.
  • How long does the program take to complete?
You can complete it in as little as 6 months, or take up to 18 months if needed.
  • Can I join from outside the U.S.?
Yes! The program welcomes international participants, especially in underserved areas including Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.
  • Do I need a license to enroll?
No license is required to join. However, certification as a psychosexual therapist through IAPST requires professional qualifications or licensure in your country or jurisdiction.
  • Will I get a supervisor?
If you don’t already have one, we’ll help you connect with an IAPST-approved supervisor so you can complete your clinical training requirements.
  • Where can I get more information?
More information on this program is available at www.schoolofsextherapy.com/certificateinsextherapy
